Brodhead Airport Fly-Ins

February, May, and July

Brodhead's airport, which consists of 88 acres of grass, trees, 50 hangars, and three grass runways, was established in 1946. It is home to the very large and active EAA Chapter 431, chartered in 1973 with 19 members and currently boasting a membership of nearly 80.

Groundhog Chili Ski Fly-inski Plane


Held the first Saturday in February from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm and open to the public, this is a mid-winter event established for pilots suffering from cabin fever. Planes are equipped with skis. Free will donation for homemade chili and fixins.

Community Pancake Breakfast


Held the third Sunday in May, this annual event is specifically designed for the public, and features a standard pancake breakfast. Usually features free Young Eagles airplane rides for kids age 8-17 and many airplanes on display for the public.

Pietenpol/Hatz Fly-In


Held "the weekend before Oshkosh" which is usually the third weekend of July but sometimes later. This three-day event is open to the public, but is actually a national gathering for builders and pilots of the Pietenpol and Hatz series of home built airplanes. There are seminars, movies, evening meals and camping. Pilots fly in from all over the country and many continue on to the big fly-in at Oshkosh the following week.

Twilight in the Park Concerts

June - August

What better way to spend a relaxing summer Sunday evening than listening to a concert in the park? Twilight in the Park concerts are a series of free concerts held from 6 until 8 pm at the Veterans Memorial Park in downtown Brodhead. Concerts are coordinated by the Business Improvement District and sponsored by local businesses and clubs.

Annual Amish School Fundraiser


Hundreds flock to the annual Amish School Fundraiser each summer. The sale takes place the last Saturday of July, beginning at 8:30 am. Many come before 8 am to view the items to be auctioned. Among the items are beautiful hand-made quilts, handmade furniture, and antiques. Stroll around the grounds and buy tasty Amish baked goods, homemade ice cream and other delicious treats, and admire the strong work horses.

Covered Bridge Days


During the second weekend of August each year, Brodhead hosts a weekend brimming with exciting activities for everyone. Events include the Wildflower Festival, exploring the historic Mill Race at the new “Embrace the Race” event, and a regional garden tractor expo. This year will also feature The Jimmys, a contemporary blues band from Monticello, WI.

Wildflower Art Festival


The new Wildflower Art Festival, sponsored by the Brodhead Chamber, is held on the Saturday of Covered Bridge Days, the second weekend of August. Quick to become popular with artists and customers as well, it is a juried art fair held in the well shaded Veterans Park from 9am - 4pm.

Brodhead Jaycees Art & Craft Show


On the first Saturday of November, the Brodhead Jaycees sponsor an art and craft show held at Albrecht Elementary School and Brodhead Middle School from 9 am to 3 pm. Food stands are available at both schools. This major fundraiser for the Jaycees allows them to sponsor many activities for kids as well as scholarships.

Come to Brodhead for AutumnFest held during the first Saturday of each October. Fun-filled activities abound, including a chili contest, music, children's activities, food booths, sidewalk craft vendors, and "Embrace the Race" pontoon boat rides on the Mill Race.

Nothing can kick off the Christmas holiday better than taking time to enjoy the annual Fire & Ice Festival in Brodhead! Enjoy carriage rides, a lighted parade, the memory tree Fire & Ice lighting, and Friday night luminarias the first full weekend of December.
